Arizona’s largest universities and energy providers have set out to create more carbon-neutral economic opportunities in the state, starting with plans for a massive regional hydrogen hub.
Leaders from Arizona State University, the University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, Arizona Public Service, Salt River Project, Tucson Electric Power and Southwest Gas recently announced plans to come together in a new effort aimed at decarbonizing the state’s economy.

Hydrogen fuels, storage, and production projects are on the go, while CCS and wind projects receive significant international boosts from the likes of INPEX, Chevron, Equinor, and Eni, and Amazon splashes cash for more than three dozen renewables projects.
"bp and Linde plan to develop a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in Texas that will enable low carbon hydrogen production at Linde’s existing facilities.
The development also will support the storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) captured from other industrial facilities, paving the way for large-scale decarbonization of the Texas Gulf Coast industrial corridor, according to the two companies."
