The Great Lakes Clean Hydrogen Partnership (GLCH) comprised of Linde, Energy Harbor, GE Aerospace, Cleveland-Cliffs and the University of Toledo today announced it has moved forward with its Department of Energy (DOE) hydrogen hub application. This new industry-led coalition will transition Midwest manufacturing, mobility, power generation and technology operators away from greenhouse gas emitting feedstocks and fuels, to hydrogen, a low carbon alternative solution. This action will also attract investors and new businesses who value access to low carbon hydrogen resulting in jobs at prevailing wages, support for disadvantaged communities and a healthier environment. Today's filing of the GLCH Concept Paper is the initial step in the DOE hydrogen hub application process.

Today, NET Power, LLC announced its plan to develop and build the world's first utility-scale natural gas-fired power plant with near-zero atmospheric emissions. The project fully integrates power production with transportation and underground sequestration of carbon dioxide. The new plant will be built near Occidental's Permian Basin operations. The plant is expected to be online in 2026.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held last week at Roanoke Cement Company's (RCC) Chesapeake Terminal near Norfolk. Council members, other state and local officials and RCC team members gathered to launch a new $40 million storage dome. In response to increasing demand for low carbon cement, the storage dome at the terminal will provide an additional 70,000 tons of capacity, tripling the existing storage. The Chesapeake Terminal expands truck and rail capacity as well, and the improved terminal will enable the import and distribution of other raw materials needed to produce concrete.

The City of Lancaster today announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Heliogen, Inc., a California-based renewable energy technology company that uses concentrating solar thermal systems to convert sunlight into steam, heat, power, and green hydrogen fuel. Under the terms of the MOU, Heliogen will serve as the technology provider, project developer, builder, operator, and equity partner for a green hydrogen generation facility that will support the city’s vision to become a model for hydrogen production in the U.S.
PureWest Energy, LLC ("PureWest"), a leading independent natural gas producer recognized for its top methane intensity rate, has signed an agreement to supply responsibly sourced gas (RSG) to a large west coast end-user. Under the agreement terms, PureWest will supply the end-user with 30,000 MMBtu/d of Platinum-rated RSG, which is independently certified by a third-party for environmental attributes that are associated with rigorous production standards and best practices. The one-year agreement is priced at a premium to prevailing market prices.
