Capturing Carbon From the Air Just Got Easier
A new porous material, a covalent organic framework (COF), efficiently captures CO₂ from ambient air. Traditional carbon capture technologies only work well on concentrated emissions like power plant exhaust, but this COF targets the much lower CO₂ levels in the open air. Direct air capture (DAC) is crucial for reducing CO₂ to meet climate goals, as current levels have surged to 426 ppm—50% higher than pre-industrial levels.
