US Awards Up to $2.2 Billion to Speed Clean-hydrogen Development
Description
The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded $2.2 billion to Gulf Coast and Midwest centers to develop hydrogen as a clean energy source. Low-carbon hydrogen could power heavy industries and transportation, reducing emissions. Most hydrogen today is fossil fuel-based, but clean hydrogen production using renewables and carbon capture is expected to grow.

Clean Hydrogen Works Awards McDermott FEED Contract for Ascension Clean Energy (ACE) Project
Clean Hydrogen Works (CHW) has awarded McDermott the FEED contract for the Ascension Clean Energy (ACE) Project in Louisiana. Initially producing 2.4 MTPA of clean ammonia, the project will expand to 7.2 MTPA in later phases. With CCS contracts, advanced off-take discussions, and Goldman Sachs as advisor, FID is expected in 2025, with production starting in 2029.
