bp’s Teesside hydrogen projects receive Abu Dhabi aid
Announced today (May 24), bp is set to bring international participation to its blue and green hydrogen developments in Teesside in the North East of England. The United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) largest energy company, ADNOC planned to take a 25% stake in the design of the blue hydrogen project, H2Teesside, making it the company’s first investment in the UK.
H2Teesside is hoped to kickstart the UK’s hydrogen economy at scale with two 500MW hydrogen production units by 2030.

TotalEnergies launches carbon capture project at Cameron LNG
TotalEnergies, Sempra Infrastructure, Mitui and Mitsubishi are collaborating on a carbon capture project at Cameron LNG, which they said will be the first carbon dioxide injection well in the US state of Louisiana once accepted by the Environmental Protection Agency.
The Hackberry Carbon Sequestration (HCS) project filed an application in August 2021 with the EPA for the well’s construction.

Chevron, Schlumberger withdraw request for California carbon-capture permit
Top U.S. energy companies Chevron (CVX.N) and Schlumberger (SLB.N) have withdrawn an application to capture carbon dioxide emissions and store them deep underground in central California, spokespeople said on Wednesday, putting the clean-energy project on hold after U.S. environmental regulators questioned it.
Burying industrial gases has become a focus for energy companies seeking to show investors they are willing to reduce emissions and help fight climate change. Their permit was one of more than a dozen filed with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which requested the application be withdrawn.
