Exomad Green is proud to announce the groundbreaking of what is set to become the world’s largest biochar facility, located in the heart of the Guarayos region in Bolivia. This milestone represents a major leap forward in the global effort to scale durable carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and demonstrates Exomad Green’s ongoing commitment to environmental restoration and local development.
The Guarayos facility is being developed in two phases. Phase 1, scheduled to be fully operational by mid-2026, will include 8 biochar reactors capable of removing 160,000 tonnes of CO₂ and producing 64,000 tonnes of biochar annually. Phase 2, expected to begin in 2026, will double capacity with 16 total reactors, reaching a projected 320,000 tonnes of CO₂ removed and 128,000 tonnes of biochar produced per year.

"We’re excited to begin what will be the world’s largest biochar facility, a major step in scaling the carbon removal industry," said Diego Justiniano, CEO of Exomad Green. "But this project goes beyond CO₂ removal—it’s about restoring land, preventing agricultural expansion, and empowering local communities through development and opportunity."
Through its biochar donation program, Exomad Green will distribute biochar to Indigenous communities and farmers to restore degraded soils, enhance food production, and improve resilience to climate stress. Additionally, the facility is designed to generate long-term economic impact by creating green jobs, improving infrastructure, and contributing to the urban transformation of the Guarayos region.
This initiative reinforces Exomad Green’s leadership in Latin America’s carbon removal sector and reflects the company’s broader mission: to deliver high-integrity carbon removal solutions that are deeply rooted in community, ecology, and long-term regeneration.
