Mangrove Nexus will process data from across Summit’s value chain, streamlining verification and commercialization across government, compliance, and voluntary programs.
TORONTO, ON (Tuesday, July 23)
Summit Carbon Solutions (Summit), an Iowa-based company developing one of the largest carbon removal projects in the world, has selected Mangrove Systems (Mangrove), a Toronto-based technology company, and their solution Mangrove Nexus as its carbon system of record. This partnership will support the digital measurement, monitoring, and verification (dMRV) of Summit’s 18+ million ton per annum biomass carbon removal & storage (BiCRS) project in the Midwestern United States.
Summit will use Mangrove Nexus to manage data from multiple sources along the project value chain. The platform will aggregate operational and non-operational data, aiding in the carbon accounting necessary to meet regulatory and commercial reporting requirements. This is crucial for engaging with government programs, compliance markets, and the voluntary carbon market (VCM). The platform will enable streamlined verification with independent validation & verification bodies (VVB) and simplify carbon credit issuances & serialization with carbon registries.
Jason Cradit, CTO, Summit Carbon Solutions said: "Mangrove Nexus is an important component of our technology strategy, supporting the commercialization of our project. The capabilities of the solution, combined with Mangrove’s expertise in carbon markets, make them an ideal partner for our project.”
Brandon Vlaar, CEO of Mangrove Systems said: "Mangrove is on a mission to power the world’s most important carbon projects. We’re incredibly excited to support Summit on what will be a landmark project for carbon removal, the agriculture industry, and the climate. Together, we are setting a new benchmark for best-in-class carbon data management.”
Mangrove Nexus is designed to address the complex challenges of data management & commercialization in carbon value chains, providing project developers with transparent, traceable, and evidence-backed digital MRV for buyers, partners, and regulators.
Ben Nelson, Director of Carbon Programs, Summit Carbon Solutions said: “In carbon projects, accurate data management is crucial. Effective data solutions like Mangrove Nexus are essential for building trust and transparency, enabling scalable and responsible engagement with carbon markets.”
Summit Carbon Solutions is driving the future of agriculture by expanding economic opportunities for ethanol producers, strengthening the marketplace for Midwest-based farmers, and creating jobs. In developing the largest carbon capture and storage project in the world, the company seeks to develop strategic infrastructure to store carbon dioxide safely and permanently in the Midwest United States.
