In Q1'21, Lorenzo Simonelli, CEO of Baker Hughes, stated the shift was starting in the U.S. For carbon capture, that was an understatement.
The U.S. is more closely aligning with Europe and other developed nations in steering government policy to incentivize clean energy sources as well as carbon capture technologies. We believe that these policy shifts will be crucial to supporting new industrywide investment in areas like renewables, green hydrogen and CCUS
Also, during Q1'21 Baker Hughes identified the CCUS addressable market for ourselves to be between $35 billion to $40 billion by 2030. In Q2'21, Baker Hughes is tracking 21 projects that have been announced.
By my count, there are 28 project in 2021 across the globe. At the moment, I'm counting the Green Plains facilities as 5 separate projects; however, that still leaves a bit of disparity in the numbers. Later this week, I'll do a CCUS project deep dive.
