China continues to dominate battery supply but that is set to change with companies in North America and Australia pursuing mining operations closer to demand. EV demand continues to increase y-o-y. In 2019 global EV demand increased 40% according to EIA and in 2020 increased 39% according to Canalys. In 2020, according to Canalys data, 83% of all EVs sold in 2020 were sold in either Europe (42%) or China (41%).
Electrification of commercial vehicle yields significant demand upside. With the support of public policy in Europe and China, continued demand growth is expected in the commercial sector.
