The upcoming World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam is set to be an important event for the clean energy industry, with Stargate Hydrogen positioned as a key player. This company from Estonia specializes in making devices that produce green hydrogen and has revealed their groundbreaking Stellar 100 Alkaline Electrolysis Stack. This advancement could transform how we produce green hydrogen, leading us towards a more sustainable future.
The World Hydrogen Summit from May 13th to 15th, 2024 provides a worldwide stage for industry experts, policymakers, and creators to work together and progress hydrogen technologies. Stargate Hydrogen's choice to reveal the Stellar 100 at this esteemed occasion emphasizes the importance of this innovative technology. The display and demo are expected to attract significant attention in the eco-friendly energy sector.
The Stellar 100 isn't just another new item; it signifies a significant advancement in green hydrogen production technology. It features an exceptional design that distinguishes it from current electrolysis stacks. Created through partnerships with top European suppliers and extensively evaluated by the well-known German research institute ZSW, the Stellar 100 has remarkable qualifications.
High Production Capacity: This system can produce up to 100 normal cubic meters per hour of clean energy, which is sufficient to fuel a car for a distance of 1,000 kilometers in just one hour.
Exceptional Efficiency: The ZSW testing found that the average cell voltage was below 1.85V, resulting in an impressive stack-level efficiency of 80% (HHV) for the Stellar 100. This positions it as one of the most efficient stacks currently available.
These remarkable measurements showcase the creative layout and emphasis on addressing challenges from earlier versions of alkaline stacks.

The Stellar 100 has the potential to go beyond just its technical details. Here’s how this advancement could transform the production of eco-friendly hydrogen:
Reduced Production Costs: The stack's effectiveness leads to reduced production expenses for green hydrogen. This enhances the competitiveness of green hydrogen in the eco-friendly energy sector, speeding up its widespread use.
Increased Scalability: The impressive output capability of the Stellar 100 makes it perfect for big hydrogen production plants. This ability to adjust to different sizes is essential in addressing the increasing need for eco-friendly hydrogen in different sectors.
Alignment with Global Decarbonization Efforts: Green hydrogen provides a practical solution for significantly reducing industrial CO2 emissions, which is crucial for reaching global decarbonization targets. The Stellar 100 plays a key role in enhancing the accessibility and efficiency of green hydrogen production.
Thomas Ottitsch, Manager of the Electrolysis test field (ElyLab) at ZSW said: "It was a pleasure working together with Stargate Hydrogen's team to test their stack technology at our test facility in Stuttgart. Our independence and scientific approach ensures that the test results compare to other tests with high confidence. We measured the average cell voltage in the stack to be lower than 1.85V (at 0.5 A/cm², 15 barg, 70°C), corresponding to a stack-level efficiency of 80% (HHV)."
Jan Grolig, the Stargate's COO said: – "Launching Stellar 100 is a major milestone for Stargate, we ceased a unique opportunity to develop a new alkaline stack generation avoiding known issues in current alkaline stack design. What makes me most proud was the collective team effort which has made this possible."
Green hydrogen is a game-changer for industrial decarbonization. Here's how the Stellar 100 could accelerate this transformation:
Clean Energy Source for Industries: Several industries currently rely on fossil fuels for their processes. Green hydrogen offers a clean alternative, enabling these industries to operate sustainably.
Fast-Tracking the Energy Transition: The widespread adoption of green hydrogen would significantly impact the transition towards a sustainable energy future. The Stellar 100, with its efficiency and scalability, acts as a catalyst for this transition.
Boosting Renewable Energy Markets: The growing need for green hydrogen will drive expansion in the renewable energy industry since pure electricity is needed to fuel electrolysis procedures. This sets off a chain reaction, promoting a greener energy environment.
The introduction of Stargate Hydrogen's Stellar 100 represents a major achievement in advancing clean energy. This advanced electrolysis system offers outstanding effectiveness and large-scale production capability, making it easier to produce cost-effective eco-friendly hydrogen on a larger scale. Its potential influence extends widely by speeding up industrial decarbonization, supporting the shift to sustainable energy, and addressing climate change challenges. The Stellar 100 stands as a strong symbol that innovation is essential for creating a cleaner and more sustainable future.
