Data Analyst - Contract for Energy and Climate Data Projects

About the Data Analyst Role

Decarbonfuse is looking for a project-based data analyst or data scientist to assist and lead analytical efforts. We are bringing information together from public and proprietary sources to better understand the flow of capital in energy and climate technology. Over 1,100 investors, analysts, and enthusiasts rely on decarbonfuse.com to track venture, corporate, and private equity investments across industrial decarbonization.

Types of projects include:

  • Voluntary Carbon Market data collection & analysis to understand supply and demand
  • Electric vehicle charging station supply chain analysis
  • Net-zero target analysis for industrial companies
  • Onshore wind turbine project capture and verification
  • Hydrogen project data analysis and summarization
  • Electrification in facilities and oilfield activities
  • Carbon capture scenarios based on carbon price forecasts

Qualifications for the Role

  • 1-3 years of experience in data analytics or data science
  • Proficiency with a R, Ruby, Python, SQL or similar statistical software applications and willingness and ability to learn
  • Experience creating output with geospatial data and tools including QGIS, Mapbox, or Carto
  • Experience cleaning, managing and transforming data sets, including making decisions about observations to drop or retain
  • Tireless attention to detail in all prior experience (academic and professional)
  • A history of successful, creative problem-solving
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively in the face of multiple and shifting priorities, with the ability to switch between complex analytical thinking and attending to mundane tasks without compromising quality or losing oneโ€™s focus
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating clarity and conciseness
