Exomad Green and Supercritical Sign 500,000-Tonne Biochar Agreement

Published by Todd Bush on April 16, 2026

Three-year deal secures Exomad Green’s remaining 2026 inventory and forward allocations through 2028 amid growing demand for verified, operational carbon removal

Santa Cruz, Bolivia / London, UK — April 16, 2026 — Exomad Green, the world’s largest biochar carbon removal producer by delivered volume, and Supercritical, the marketplace that has facilitated more than 1.8 million tonnes of carbon removal, today announced a three-year agreement covering up to 500,000 tonnes of durable carbon removal.

The agreement secures Exomad Green’s remaining 2026 inventory, along with allocations for 2027 and 2028, all certified under the Puro.earth biochar methodology. It extends a partnership now in its third year, through which Supercritical has already facilitated the sale of more than 100,000 tonnes of Exomad Green credits.

The deal reflects a broader shift in the carbon removal market as new buyers enter to procure against 2026-2030 targets, and demand concentrates on high-quality credits that can be delivered and retired within the next few years.

At the same time, near-term supply from operational projects is emerging as one of the most constrained resources in the market. As the sector scales, execution gaps across early-stage projects are reinforcing the value of proven, reliable production capacity.

Exomad Green has produced more than 320,000 tonnes of durable carbon removal to date and has expanded production by over 200% year-on-year, positioning the company as the largest supplier globally by delivered volume.

“The carbon removal market is maturing,” said Diego Justiniano, CEO of Exomad Green. “We’ve delivered over 320,000 tonnes, and this agreement puts that operational capacity into the market where buyers need it most — verified, near-term supply. Not a future promise, but tonnes available today.”

“Long-term offtakes and short-term spot purchases are equally important to building the market,” said Michelle You, CEO of Supercritical. “This agreement provides immediate access to high-quality, near-term supply from the leading biochar producer in the world. The market is moving from promise to performance, and performance requires supply you can count on this year.”

With this agreement, Supercritical has now facilitated nearly 2 million tonnes of carbon removal across biochar, mineralization, direct air capture, enhanced rock weathering, and other permanent carbon removal pathways.

As corporate buyers accelerate procurement to meet 2030 climate targets, access to reliable, near-term supply from operational projects is becoming a defining factor in the market.
