LONDON AND HOUSTON (PRWEB) MARCH 07, 2022 -- Using 20% of its land surface for solar plants, the United Arab Emirates could produce enough green hydrogen to match its current oil & gas revenue, according to the MENA Hydrogen Alliance. Saudi Arabia is the largest global exporter of ammonia and with existing energy infrastructure in place, the region has an optimistic outlook for the hydrogen economy.

In December of 2021, the NEOM Green Hydrogen company was established to operate a two-gigawatt electrolysis plant in Saudi Arabia. The partnership enables hydrogen to be synthesized into carbon-free ammonia for export. Numerous projects in the Middle East and North Africa are beginning to consider green or gray hydrogen to reduce emissions of industrial facilities.
MENA Hydrogen Alliance is a focused group of leaders and visionaries from the public sector, the private sector as well as academia joining forces to accelerate the energy transition, through green electrons and molecules. An initiative of Dii Desert Energy, they have joined forces with World Hydrogen Leaders to deliver the region’s first international and collaboration strategy forum for hydrogen.
Green Power Global banked their 20 years of experience delivering clean energy research and live events, and focused their attention on providing powerful insights to their clients online. World Hydrogen Leaders began as an online networking and intelligence platform, but was fast-tracked into the rich, hydrogen-centered content infrastructure it is today. The platform has grown to over 1,000+ members who rely on World Hydrogen Leaders insights, training courses, and events to propel the hydrogen transition.
“With new hydrogen projects, partnerships and initiatives skyrocketing in the Middle East and North Africa, this region boasts significant untapped potential to help accelerate the transition to low-carbon and renewable hydrogen,” Megan Farbrother, Head of Research and Production at Green Power Global stated. “Now we must bring together stakeholders from around the world to unlock this potential, which has been a core business of Green Power Global and Dii Desert Energy for decades.”
“The hydrogen economy needs global scale with new sources of supply and demand,” said Todd Bush from Decarbonfuse. “Investments of $3 billion to $5 billion towards low carbon hydrogen energy projects have been announced in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. With both COP27 and COP28 set to take place in the region – Egypt in 2022 and the UAE in 2023 – this will only increase the region’s ongoing decarbonization drive.”
World Hydrogen Leaders was launched in 2020 by green energy veteran Green Power Global, as the go-to knowledge & networking resource for executives and professionals. World Hydrogen Leaders already has over 1,000 members across the entire hydrogen value chain, who trust us as a source of industry intelligence. Discover more at https://www.worldhydrogenleaders.com/
