Partnership brings digital MRV to one of Canada’s first purpose-built BECCS/Bio-CCS facilities, supporting high-integrity CDR credit issuance through Isometric certification.
CALGARY, AB and TORONTO, ON — March 17, 2026 — Remova Carbon Systems Ltd. , a Canadian carbon dioxide removal (CDR) developer, and Mangrove Systems, the leading provider of digital measurement, reporting, and verification (dMRV) solutions for carbon projects, today announced a partnership to deploy Mangrove’s MRV platform across Remova’s greenfield BECCS/Bio-CCS facility in Central Alberta.
Remova is developing a purpose-built bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) facility that will convert sustainably sourced mill and forest residuals into renewable energy while permanently capturing and storing biogenic CO₂ underground. The facility’s compact, vertically integrated design locates the capture system directly at the injection wellhead - eliminating the need for CO₂ transport infrastructure. Feedstock will be sourced primarily from sawmill residues at nearby forestry operations, with slash pile biomass providing additional supply. The captured CO₂ will be injected into permanent geological storage on-site.

Mangrove’s engagement begins during Remova’s FEED phase, providing the data dictionary and monitoring plan that form the foundation for Isometric Bio-CCS certification. By integrating dMRV infrastructure from the earliest stages of project development, Remova will ensure its carbon accounting is audit-ready and aligned with the requirements of CDR buyers, registries, and third-party verifiers from day one.
Mangrove’s digital MRV platform combines advanced data integration, automation, artificial intelligence, and reporting tools to give Remova a single, auditable system of record for its carbon removal operations. The platform aggregates data across the full value chain to provide continuous visibility into performance and carbon balances. By automating data ingestion, streamlining carbon accounting, and using AI to pre-check reports before delivering directly to carbon registries, Mangrove enables faster verification and more reliable credit issuances.
“We set out to build a BECCS project that is compact, replicable, and grounded in the highest standards of measurement and verification,” said Bob Schmitz, Founder of Remova. “Mangrove’s dMRV platform gives us the data infrastructure to back every tonne of CO₂ we remove with the transparency that buyers and registries expect. Getting this right from the FEED stage means we’re not retrofitting compliance later - we’re building it in from the start.”
“Remova represents the kind of project the CDR market needs - purpose-built, vertically integrated, and designed for replication,” said Brandon Vlaar, CEO of Mangrove Systems. “By embedding digital MRV infrastructure during the engineering phase, Remova is setting a standard for how BECCS projects should approach certification and commercial readiness.”
Remova is a Canadian carbon dioxide removal developer building compact, replicable BECCS facilities that convert sustainably sourced forest and mill residuals into renewable energy while permanently storing biogenic CO₂ underground. Based in Alberta, Remova’s first facility is designed to leverage the province’s world-class forestry sector and geological storage resources to deliver high-integrity carbon removal at scale.
