Verra’s carbon capture and storage (CCS) methodology in the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program is now available in digital form on the Verra Project Hub (external). VM0049 Carbon Capture and Storage, v1.0 and its four associated modules (VMD0056, VMD0057, VMD0058, and VMD0059) can be accessed through the Digital Project Submission Tool.

As part of Verra’s multiyear digitalization initiative, this release is a key component of enhancing the registration process for projects using VM0049. The digital process will streamline projects’ abilities to generate carbon credits and drive finance to activities that generate carbon dioxide removals (CDRs) and emission reductions, improve resource use efficiency, and support socio-environmental co-benefits.
Verra encourages proponents to use the digital versions of methodologies as they become available. With the addition of VM0049, Verra now has 23 digitalized methodologies across its programs. Verra maintains a list of digitalized VCS methodologies, and a new resource with a list of digitalized methodologies across all Verra programs is forthcoming.
Additional digitalized methodologies are currently undergoing User Acceptance Testing, including ACM0009: Consolidated baseline and monitoring methodology for fuel switching from coal or petroleum fuel to natural gas, v3.2 (external), AM0023: Leak detection and repair in gas production, processing, transmission, storage and distribution systems and in refinery facilities v4.0.0 (external), and VM0008 Weatherization of Single Family and Multi-Family Buildings, v1.2.
