HyPRIME is a ZeroAvia-led, Department for Transport-supported project developing and demonstrating the hydrogen infrastructure needed to support future liquid hydrogen-powered commercial aircraft and zero-emission airport operations.
Project HyPRIME (Hydrogen Propulsion Refuelling Infrastructure Mobile Ecosystem) will develop, build and demonstrate hydrogen refuelling infrastructure needed to support future liquid hydrogen (LH₂)-powered commercial aircraft, integrated with ULEMCo's ‘MATT’ ground support equipment and GeoPura's Hydrogen Powered Unit ‘HPU1’.

Demonstrated in a live airport environment, HyPRIME will evaluate the operational, safety and economic requirements for introducing and scaling liquid hydrogen across UK airport networks. The project will generate critical insights into refuelling procedures, infrastructure, and the wider benefits of hydrogen adoption for aviation.
A key objective is to demonstrate aircraft refuelling within standard commercial turnaround times. HyPRIME will capture and utilise hydrogen boil-off for hydrogen-powered ground support equipment and airport utilities and incorporate novel Helium-free inerting to reduce gas wastage, demonstrating an efficient and integrated hydrogen aviation ecosystem.
By demonstrating how aircraft, ground vehicles and airport energy systems can operate together using hydrogen, HyPRIME will help lay the foundations for the future deployment of zero-emission airport operations and hydrogen-powered flight.
With support from Department for Transport.
