Today, we are proud to announce a new partnership with Isometric and the launch of Apollo, Renoster’s forest carbon program designed to deliver high quality nature-based carbon credits. Renoster is the first supplier signed up to issue credits under Isometric’s new Improved Forest Management (IFM) Protocol, which entered public consultation today.

Carbon markets need credits that are not only effective but also credible. For too long, buyers have been asked to rely on opaque processes and assumptions that are difficult to defend under scrutiny. This new protocol from Isometric changes that dynamic.
The IFM Protocol establishes a rigorous, transparent framework for carbon removal through improved forest management. It requires dynamic baselines that compare project forests to similar reference forests in the same region. It integrates LiDAR with field monitoring for precise carbon accounting. It prioritizes ecological integrity by prohibiting monoculture plantations and requiring native species.
Alongside the protocol, Isometric has released the Deferred Harvest on Smallholder Lands (DHSL) Module for public consultation. This is designed to bring small landowners—historically excluded from carbon markets—into the fold, with requirements for conservative durability, guaranteed revenue sharing, and LiDAR-enabled monitoring that keeps costs down.
For Renoster, this is more than a registry partnership. It represents a shared commitment to raising the standard for U.S. forest carbon and unlocking participation for small landowners who hold gigatons of untapped climate potential.
Apollo helps small landowners in Maine shift from short harvest rotations to longer forest management cycles that store more carbon. Each property must show verified harvest history and intent, ensuring that credits represent real changes in practice. Forest growth and disturbances are monitored annually, and credits are issued only after conservative deductions for leakage, permanence, and uncertainty.
Isometric’s IFM Protocol will ensure that all credits generated by Apollo meet the highest bar for rigor and quality. This new protocol also supports the scientific advances that Apollo brings, including LiDAR, smart contract lengths, annual automatic monitoring, dynamic matched-control baselines, peer reviewed dynamic equilibrium economics modeling with the Global Timber Model, and transparent, open data. As the first project enrolled under this protocol, Apollo sets the precedent for a new class of forest carbon credits.
Renoster provided extensive feedback during the protocol’s development and is proud to be the first supplier signed up to issue credits under it. By partnering with Isometric, we’re able to align scientific rigor with project delivery in a way that strengthens trust across the carbon market.
Apollo launches with 37 landowners across 20,000 acres in Maine, supported by a first purchase from Wren and backed by insurance from Kita. With Isometric, these credits will be verified and issued under a framework designed to raise standards across the entire market.
