Carbon Unbound Merges East and West Coast Summits Into One Flagship North American CDR Event

Published by Teresa on September 14, 2026

Carbon Unbound, the global carbon dioxide removal conference and industry platform, has announced the merger of its East Coast and West Coast North American summits into a single flagship event. Carbon Unbound North America 2027 will take place March 23 and 24, 2027, in Vancouver, Canada, with pre-summit workshops on March 22.

The move ends a format that ran two separate regional editions annually, one in New York and one in Vancouver or San Francisco, drawing different cross-sections of the CDR market. From 2027, the entire North American buyer community, along with developers, financiers, and policymakers, will convene in one place at one time.

The organizer says the split format served a purpose in the early stages of building the CDR buyer community on the continent, but the market has matured past it. Two events four months apart meant the most consequential conversations never had the full room they needed.

"The CDR market doesn't need more fragmented moments," said Oliver Katz, CEO and Co-Founder of Unbound Summits, in the official announcement. The consolidation, he noted, is about building high-density moments where the right people are reliably in the same room.

What to Expect at Carbon Unbound North America 2027

A Larger, More Senior Audience

The 2027 event is targeting over 600 CDR leaders, with the highest ratio of demand-side to supply-side attendees Carbon Unbound has assembled at any North American edition. The focus is on putting more buyers, financiers, and decision-makers in the room relative to suppliers, which is designed to generate more deal-relevant conversations per day.

One Agenda Covering the Full North American CDR Landscape

Merging the strongest programming from both prior events means a sharper, denser agenda. Past Carbon Unbound summits have drawn participation from organizations including Charm Industrial, Climeworks, Microsoft, Google, and Barclays, spanning the full CDR value chain from technology developers to major buyers and financial institutions.

Lower Cost, Better Value

Vancouver comes at a lower price point than New York. Carbon Unbound says it is passing those savings directly to delegates, with ticket pricing set below East Coast 2026 levels. Attendees get a larger, more concentrated event for less than what the New York edition cost.

Why Vancouver

British Columbia's progressive carbon pricing framework and direct government support for removal projects make it a natural home for these conversations. The March 22 to 24 dates were chosen deliberately after mapping the full CDR events calendar for 2027, so the summit does not compete with other key industry gatherings. Positioned at the close of Q1, it gives the market a strong anchor point early in the year.

Registration and Waitlist

Registration opens November 2, 2026. Attendees can join the waitlist now for early access and perks. Sponsorship applications are open via the event page. Former East Coast attendees based on the East Coast can contact [email protected] for a travel incentive.
