MAX Power Mining Corp. has confirmed an active natural hydrogen system 30 kilometers from its original Lawson Complex wells in south-central Saskatchewan. The result extends Canada's first-ever confirmed subsurface hydrogen discovery to the western edge of the Prairie Evaporite. Lawson 6 is now drilling 8 km southeast of Lawson 5, while commercial testing begins at Bracken and then Lawson.

MAX Power (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FSE: 89N) holds the largest permitted natural hydrogen land package in Canada. Its confirmed discovery zone now spans three geographically distinct areas separated by as much as 365 kilometers.

Lawson 5 is a 30-kilometer step-out from the original Lawson Complex near Central Butte. The first four Lawson wells were drilled within roughly 2 kilometers of each other. That spatial jump transforms a single-site natural hydrogen exploration result into what MAX Power calls a basin-scale opportunity spanning much of south-central Saskatchewan.
The well was drilled to a total depth of 2,175 meters and recovered 62 meters of drill core for laboratory analysis. Geological observations at Lawson 5 showed stronger iron redox alteration, serpentinization, and hematite oxidation than anything recorded at the earlier Lawson wells. These features are associated with elevated natural hydrogen levels along sub-vertical faults within a package of exotic terrane source rocks.
Steve Halabura, MAX Power's Chief Geoscientist, noted that further drilling and geophysical work will determine whether Lawson 5 is a separate system or is connected to the Lawson Complex. He added that regional faulting and fracture systems controlling hydrogen migration will be mapped through ongoing geoscience work.
Lawson 6 drilling commenced approximately 8 kilometers southeast of Lawson 5. The company says this well has a higher probability of drilling directly through the Prairie Evaporite, which acts as a natural salt seal trapping hydrogen below the surface.
These discoveries, combined with the Bracken target in southwest Saskatchewan, confirm active natural hydrogen in zones separated by as much as 365 kilometers across the province. MAX Power describes the entire corridor as the 475-km Genesis Trend.

Completions have commenced at the Bracken target in southwest Saskatchewan, near the Montana border. Testing at the Lawson Complex will follow immediately after. This back-to-back commercial validation program is designed to generate measurable production data across two separate targets without delay between them.
The testing program will evaluate hydrogen concentrations, sustained flow rates, reservoir pressures, and zone connectivity. Those numbers determine whether a natural hydrogen system can support power generation at commercial scale. No commercially recoverable resources or reserves have been established at Lawson as of October 27, 2026.
Earlier testing at the original Lawson well, validated by three independent laboratories, confirmed hydrogen concentrations of up to 286,000 parts per million (28.6 percent) at depth in January 2026. The upcoming completions program will determine whether those concentrations hold at sustained flow rates across the broader complex.
MAX Power's second commercial validation well at Lawson encountered hydrogen-rich fractures at depth, reinforcing the scale potential of the Lawson complex. The multi-well program is designed to confirm not just presence but deliverability: the volume and flow consistency required to power a real industrial customer.

MAX Power describes its "Months to Molecules" strategy as advancing geological discovery, commercial testing, and market development in parallel. Testing results from both Bracken and Lawson will drive every downstream commercial decision.
On October 27, 2026, MAX Power and Douglas Capital Inc. (DCI) signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding. The collaboration will evaluate two commercial pathways for potential natural hydrogen output from the Lawson system, specifically Saskatchewan-based AI data centers and a proposed interprovincial energy corridor.
DCI is led by John Douglas, who founded Transmission Developers Inc. in 2008 and developed the C$8 billion, 1,250 MW Champlain Hudson Power Express. That project, a 550-kilometer underground and underwater transmission line, delivers Quebec hydroelectricity to New York City and entered commercial operation in June 2026.
The first initiative evaluates a network of next-generation Saskatchewan data centers intended to be entirely Canadian-built and powered by electricity from MAX Power's natural hydrogen, subject to technical and commercial validation. The second explores DCI's proposed CANVergence Energy Way, an Alberta-to-Ontario corridor that would include a 2,000 MW multi-terminal HVDC transmission system. That 2,000 MW figure refers to the corridor's proposed transmission capacity, not confirmed natural hydrogen-generated output. DCI would lead First Nations engagement along the proposed corridor.
The parties plan to agree on a joint feasibility work plan, budget, and timetable within 30 days of signing. The MOU does not establish a joint venture, commit either party to financing, or grant DCI rights to MAX Power's resources. No production, power supply commitment, or offtake arrangement has been established as of October 27, 2026.

"Natural Hydrogen has the potential to become an entirely new primary energy source, the first since uranium, but realizing that opportunity requires more than a discovery. It requires the infrastructure, expertise and commercial relationships to bring that energy to market. John Douglas and his team have been involved in developing some of North America's most significant energy projects. Bringing that experience together with what we are advancing at Lawson represents an important step in building the commercial pathways for Natural Hydrogen in Canada."
Chad Levesque, President and Director, MAX Power Mining Corp.
Discovery and commercial viability are two separate milestones. For natural hydrogen to function as a reliable industrial energy source, it must deliver consistent flow rates, commercially useful concentrations, and a reservoir large enough to justify infrastructure investment. No well in the world has confirmed that at scale yet.
The upcoming Lawson testing program addresses that gap directly. If results confirm sustained hydrogen flow at the Lawson Complex, Saskatchewan could position itself as home to the world's first large-scale commercial natural hydrogen system. That would make it the first new primary energy source since uranium to enter commercial production.
Researchers have identified vast reserves of natural hydrogen globally, but the path from geological presence to commercial production has remained the critical gap. Saskatchewan's geology and MAX Power's accelerating multi-well program represent one of the most advanced efforts to bridge that gap anywhere in the world.
"MAX Power is advancing the technical work at Lawson while building the relationships needed to pursue commercial development. Saskatchewan's growing AI infrastructure ambitions give that work added urgency. This collaboration brings experienced energy developers into the process of evaluating how a new source of Natural Hydrogen could serve Canadian customers, and what it would take to develop those opportunities at a scale supported by our results."
Rob Norris, CEO and Director, MAX Power Mining Corp.
With Lawson 5 confirmed, Lawson 6 drilling, Bracken completions underway, and a high-profile infrastructure partnership in place, MAX Power has built the most active natural hydrogen development program in Canada. The Genesis Trend spans 475 km across MAX Power's 2.5 million permitted acres. The next chapter will be written by what the testing data shows underground.
MAX Power Mining Corp.'s "The Next Chapter" video, released October 2026, covers the company's natural hydrogen discovery expansion across Saskatchewan and the path toward commercial development.
The convergence of geological discovery and infrastructure partnerships is what makes this moment distinct. MAX Power is no longer just an exploration story. It is building the commercial architecture for a potential new energy source.
What makes the Lawson 5 result significant compared to previous wells?
Lawson 1 through 4 were drilled within roughly 2 km of each other inside the 28 sq km Lawson Complex. Lawson 5 confirmed hydrogen indicators 30 km from that cluster, near the western edge of the Prairie Evaporite. That scale expansion suggests the natural hydrogen system may cover a much larger geological zone than the original complex indicated, which has significant implications for commercial potential.
Is the Douglas Capital MOU a confirmed commercial deal for hydrogen-powered data centers?
No. The October 27, 2026, MOU is non-binding other than customary provisions. It does not establish a joint venture, commit either party to financing, or grant DCI rights to MAX Power's resources. Any development requires definitive agreements, technical feasibility confirmation, and commercial validation of the hydrogen supply. None of those have been established yet.
What is the difference between natural hydrogen and green or blue hydrogen?
Natural hydrogen (also called white or gold hydrogen) forms underground through geological processes, primarily reactions between iron-rich rock and water. It does not need to be manufactured. Green hydrogen requires electrolysis powered by renewable energy, and blue hydrogen is produced from natural gas with carbon capture. If commercially recoverable deposits are proven, natural hydrogen could be extracted at a fraction of the cost of either manufactured type.
