SoCalGas Petitions CPUC to Update Hydrogen Blending Demonstration Requirements Based on Global Safety History and Research
Description
SoCalGas, SDG&E, and Southwest Gas asked the CPUC to remove the requirement for a 5 percent hydrogen-blending demo, citing global evidence that low-level blends are already proven safe. The petition would let California move faster toward systemwide hydrogen-blending standards while continuing larger 5–20 percent demonstration projects. Utilities argue this accelerates decarbonization and avoids unnecessary costs and delays.
